LO QUE EL PROGRESO NOS DEJÓ

Lo que el progreso nos dejó (“What Progress Bequeathed Us”) is an installation assembled with recordings from
the rain forest and skirts made from the inner bark of the Llanchama tree, a garment of the Bora people of
Amazonia in both Peru and Colombia. Skirts that carry the traditional symbols representative of each clan and
skirts in which the artist has intervened interact to represent the consequences that the notion of progress has
left in this region and its First Nation inhabitants. It also renders homage to what Bora society has managed to
preserve of its culture, despite the steamroller presence of progress.
