The Oaxaca Collection honors to the Mexican filigree and to the goldsmiths who perpetuate and reinvent it. Oaxaca is a melting pot where Mixtec, Spanish and Arab traditions coexist. This artistic syncretism is very palpable in XAC's work. She revisits the tradition, and continues with the use of the gold thread. The Paintings and Rectangles of the Oaxaca Collection pay tribute to the fretwork of the Pyramid of Mitla, while summoning the optical art of Vasarely and the geometric forms of Mondrian.
