Christy Edwards, Is a professional watercolor artist, best known locally for her beautiful interpretations of so many North East scenes. Christy attended college at the University of Tennessee, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education, with honors. After establishing an art department in Sevier County Tennessee and procuring a job as art teacher in the Gatlinburg High School, Christy returned home to summer on Fire Island and began her career as a professional artist, some 36 years ago.

Christy spent the next three years in the U.S.Virgin Islands, capturing life in the Caribbean, where her work was featured in galleries on St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. Christy again returned to Long Island in 1980, to begin establishing herself as one of the premiere local artists. Over the next few years, she painted and displayed her work continuously at the many various town and village art shows around Long Island, culminating with her first New York one woman show in 1982.

Christy also married in 1982, and has settled on Long Island to become a stalwart part of the community. Christy has served as an Advisory Council member to both the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society, and Southside Hospital. She is a regular donor of her work to many charitable fund raisers around the South Shore. In 1986, Christy was nationally recognized as an "Outstanding Young Woman of the Year" for her many professional and charitable accomplishments; in 2004 Christy was elected to the Bayshore High School Hall of Fame and was included in the Marquis Who's Who of American Woman 2007-2008-2009. She is also included in the Marquis Who's Who in the World 2009. Christy considers the reality that all her originals have sold (accept at any given time from ten to twenty) as great a gift as the ablility to paint.

Because of her refusal to repeat any original paintings, Christy entered the world of fine art prints in 1983. To satisfy the requests of her many customers for her beautiful renditions of Fire Island, she released the "Christy Collection" of eight lithograph prints. By adding from her best work every year, and embracing new technologies, Christy now has a large selection of different fine art Giclee's available as part of her portfolio. In 1995, a "The Christy Collection" home page was established and in 1999 the URL,

Christy has over 3500 original paintings to her credit since beginning her career, capturing the essence of the moment in scenes from Cape Cod to the Caribbean. She has illustrated a children's book, was engaged by the Mohonk Mountain House, a national historic landmark, as an artist in Residence and was a contributing artist to the Arthur Kaplan Company, distributors of prints and posters worldwide.
