A woman recovers in a shelter for survivors of 'La Bestia' or 'The Beast' An ancient dangerous dilapidated monster of a freight train that lumbers across Mexico to the U.S. border with hundreds of desperate migrants clinging onto the roofs of ageing cargo carriages. Many fall losing multiple limbs and frequently their lives. On their perilous journey the migrants also suffer murder, mugging, extortion, gang rape of women and young girls by Central American gangs. Mexican drug traffickers selling them drugs, forcing young girls into prostitution and luring boys into gangs. At each stop the migrants are prey to local police, who demand bribes in exchange for allowing them to continue.
