ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Pat McDonagh is an Irish-born designer who began her career in the 1960's after studying in Paris and working in modelling and television. Since her inception into the world of fashion, Pat has designed for regular celebrity clientele and notable women such as Diana Rigg ( Emma Peel of the original Avengers series ) and Michelle Jean ( Governor-General ).

Pat has received many accolades for her phenominal work in design. She is the recipient of the FDCC lifetime achievement award and the New York Times Designer Excellence award, among many others.

Her designs are youthfully avant-garde; yet retain a classic feel often infused with romanticism.

Announcement: Pat McDonagh Estate

We are delighted to announce that the estate of Pat McDonagh has selected the FHM to become home for the Pat McDonagh archives. Manchester-born McDonagh came to
Canada in 1966 and opened one of the first British style youth boutiques in Toronto. By 1969 she was designing her own line of clothes and over the years has produced garments ranging from couture gowns for Toronto socialites to uniforms for the elevator operators at the CN tower. The massive archives of photos, sketches and other paper items will be catalogued into the FHM archives this summer, and the collection of over 60 archival garments dating from the early 1970s to her last 'Legacy' collection from 2014 will be featured in a retrospective of her work planned for next year.
