My web site is the heart of my business marketing effort. It is more than just a place to park my portfolios...it is a reflection of me as an artist and as a businessman. I thought my needs could only be met by a custom web site and the substantial investment of time, energy and money that required. I was wrong. FolioLink has proven itself to be a far better solution. The intelligent design, creative flexibility, ease of updating and responsive support turned me from skeptic to believer very quickly. Switching to FolioLink feels like one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I searched for over a year for an artist-friendly website solution before finally settling with Foliolink. There is no other service that comes close to offering an intelligent, elegant, streamlined design and functionality of a website focused on showcasing and sharing art, with the value and support they offer. Reasonably priced and enough flexibility for easy customization that provides a professional marketing asset which can adapt to fit a clients needs, and evolve with your art.
Douglas Capron is an emerging photographer, visual artist and printmaker. Being recently invited to exhibit in Italy convinced him to focus full time on his passion. His varied work ranges from themes exploring nature and our environment to musicians, landscapes and portraiture. I started filming a documentary on Blues music 15 years ago. It opened the door to photographing musicians which inspired me to explore photography as an art form. My creative decisions are mostly unconventional and intuitive, responding to the unexpected. I hope my work conveys a feeling which travels beyond sentiment and graphic emotional impact, and sustains a subtle dialogue with the viewer. Douglas is currently working on a book of his photography based on his recent trip to Japan, scheduled for release in Spring, 2009.

I picked FolioLink for my artwork because I felt the websites are
very well thought-out and beautifully designed. They enhance the art
without distracting. Since I signed on I've been incredibly happy
with the ease of use of FolioLink. It's very easy to update my images
and information and their tech support is really helpful. Most
important is that I’ve gotten great exposure and feedback since I’ve
had the site.
I combine a love of observation of the figure and nature with a
desire to express something of my own interior world and thoughts. I
identify most with the Magical Realists and the Surralists. I studied
art Washington University's School of Fine Arts and at Tyler School
of Art, where I received a BFA. After moving to New York I received
an MFA from Hunter Collee. My work has been shown at many museums and
galleries in the New York area, including The Bronx Museum and The
Montclair Art Museum. I am also a MacDowell Colony Fellow. Currently
my work is represented by de Soto, Los Angeles and Dieu Donne
Papermill in New York.

Foliolink makes life easier, period. The initial set-up was very simple, and the ability to change website designs as often as desired is a big plus. I have recommended them to several artists, and have had many, many compliments on my site. My online sales are vey strong, in no small part due to Foliolink.
My work is inspired by everyday objects and moments. I strive to put common items in a new light. I could never stop seeing in terms of a photographic image, even if I wished to. It is a central part of my life. I am currently exhibiting in several local galleries and hope that you enjoy my work.

I have been very happy with the speed and efficiency of getting my work up in such a beautiful online format at Foliolink. The staff member who helped me was wonderfully patient as she telephonically held my hand through new adventures in things like tweaking XML, and I watched my site blossom into something truly special. My work has NEVER looked this good online and as the web has grown into the primary interface between photography buyers and artists the power of this important first-impression is brought home to me every day. I have had several friends inquire already about moving their sites to Foliolink, a move I can heartily recommend.
Rick Olivier has been photographing the music and culture of New Orleans and South Louisiana since his high school days in the mid-70s. His earliest professional achievement was winning two Louisiana Press Association Awards for Feature Photography at the age of 16. He moved to New Orleans in 1982 and established himself as an acute observer of the local music scene and by the mid-Eighties had branched out into corporate, advertising, and editorial assignments for national magazines. His book, Zydeco! won the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities Book Of The Year Award. His music photographs have appeared on more than one hundred record covers and his portraits have twice graced the cover of the New York Times Magazine.

My Foliolink websiite has gotten a ton of positive feedback for the look of the website and the way it handles all the content!
The surprising amount of user controlled custom features are a delight to use and what I couldn’t figure out myself the staff at Foliolink handled in a few emails!
I checked out LiveBooks and a few other similar services but Foliolink has so much more to offer.
My work straddles the two worlds of assignment photography and self-assigned projects for sale in galleries as prints or programmed in limited edition, handmade artist books. I intend my website to appeal to the widest range of image professionals who must quickly realize that in the final analysis, it is a strong personal vision which counts the most!
The images in the WORKPLACE and WORKFORCE portfolios are from a long term ( ‘99-’05) documentation of the former maritime/industrial area along the South-East San Francisco waterfront.

FolioLink stands out among the dizzying number of web hosting sites for their aesthetically beautiful and dynamic websites specifically geared to serve the needs of artists. I have been pleased with my ability to create a unique, complex and exceptionally well designed website with ease and speed. The design options are far ranging, allowing for originality. Yet, the logic of the design process is simple and user friendly. I have also enjoyed prompt technical support from a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

As a graphic designer and art director, I’ve created many websites for many clients. However, like many creative people, I’ve never had the time to create my own site, something I desperately needed to do. So when I heard about Foliolink and saw how clean and elegant their designs were, and how easy it was to create a website that reflected my own aesthetics, I immediately jumped on board. And I’ve been extremely happy with the results. The people at Foliolink are wonderful and helpful, and I love the look and functionality of my flash site. Finding Foliolink was such a relief for me. It’s been manna from Heaven. I’d recommend them to any busy creative in need of an online portfolio.
A writer, designer and creative on hundreds of commercials, Christopher spent the last 20 years working for ad agencies all over the world.
Three years ago, he started christopherWILSONphotography. Since then, and much to his delight, he has worked constantly as a photographer. Before that, he was a ballet dancer. He danced 8 hours a day, survived on bread and coffee, looked like hell and broke his ankle twice. But he still insists it was fun. What an idiot.
He has two daughters, Celia and Raney, by far the best things he has ever created.

Foliolink offers professional quality sites with contemporary styles and great customer support! Website templates allow for significant customization while remaining user friendly. My website was up fast and I have complete control to change features anytime. Having this website has been invaluable to my business.
Chris first picked up a camera to document life and work in isolated areas of Canada's North. Places where immense, stark landscapes were highlighted by changing 24 hour light. Attempting to understand his place amidst the imposing natural forces soon drove his motivation to photograph. He became focused on the interactions between himself, others, animals, plants, climate, and land. Chris remains inspired by the organic forces in photography as he works on providing imagery for stock, wedding, and commercial clients. He currently lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in one of the sunniest places in the country.

After two months of frustration using a local web designer, I luckily found FolioLink. It had exactly what I was trying to create plus the flexibility to make changes easily. FolioLink is constantly improving and adding features which means they will always be fresh and new.
My imagination and dreaming have coaxed me to launch ONLYDREAMING studio. I build digital photo illustrations like storybook images without the story, not knowing what happened before or what happens next. The images I use are from photographs of my not-often-enough travels, objects around the house, and whatever catches my eye wherever I am. I work full time in the commerical sign industry. I have worked in California for a special effects company for the film and music industry in the important late 1960s, in Houston for a commerical photography lab and fine art silk screen printing company. I later owned my own silk-screen printing and etched glass business. Art and images are in my heart. As Edgar Allan Poe says it best - 'Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night'. Sweet dreams.

The main advantage of Foliolink is that the way to build your site is as easy as it can be, changing images within minutes making it possible to show my most recent jobs.
Also, the enormous diversity in website designs is a big plus. In that way, I can always show my work in the best possible environment, not letting the website be the hero, but leaving that up to the photographs that are shown within it.
As I started 16 years ago as a photographers assistant, just leaving school, I immediately knew photography was what I wanted.
I saw the diversity in subjects and the different ways of handling and using light/camera technique, both in studio and location, using them to create a unique personal style and atmosphere.
After starting a studio in the centre of Amsterdam myself I always looked for this personal touch, never letting the camera be the leading instrument but always using it to make what I imagined the image should look like.
In that way I shoot cars and stills with the same passion as people though I shoot mainly cars, both editorial, as well as, for the major ad agencies.

When it come to building web sites, I have gone through the whole spectrum of hiring web designers, designing and building my own, to what I now believe is the future for creative artist like me; the drag and drop. Once a year I would lock myself in my office for three weeks and labor over building a site. With FolioLink, I can create a custom looking site in a matter of hours. The number of design templates and creative options are unprecedented. Now the hardest part about building a web site come down to choosing my images.
The one thing that I have try to do as a commercial adverting photographer, is to present and promote myself first and foremost as an artist. I want the art director hiring me to get a sense that I am more interested in the process of creating a remarkable image than collecting a paycheck. I have little interest in the image associated with being a photographer, my passion lies in the image that can put in a frame and hung on the wall.

Before I chose FolioLink, I looked at other companies- including livebooks. But some of these companies quoted me similar services for 10 times the price of FolioLink. My experience with FolioLink has been very satisfying. Setting up the site was quick and easy. I can easily update my site and even change templates when I am on the road. Customer service is a very important factor for me and Foliolink has been great!

FolioLink has been a valuable tool for me as a professional photographer, the ability to change it as often as I like and still maintain its professional appearance has been a great asset, but most of all It helps to represent me by enhancing and not distracting from my photography. Many people comment how great my work is and then they say wow amazing web design too. I have been able to channel both budding and established colleagues towards using FolioLink over other Web Service companies simply by my example. Its so easy to use and really no one else offers the diversity of Template styles that keep my site looking very personalized and unique with so little effort.

Foliolink has been a tremendous resource in promoting my art career. I was able to select a great looking template, upload my images and text and in a matter of a couple of hours I had an amazing and professional looking website. The entire system was clearly designed for visual learners like me, with easy to understand icons and procedures. Updating my website is a breeze - I log in, update my images, move images here and there and I am done. I am on my timetable, not that of my webmaster. Foliolink staff members are available by phone and are proactive about helping subscribers by recommending templates and the optimization of my jpegs. I receive compliments on my website regularly, and I recommend Foliolink to anyone who needs a website.
My art is a documentation of my interaction and observations of nature. I mimic nature, sometimes loosely and sometimes strictly, to reproduce specific plants, plant matter, natural objects and landscapes. During the creative process, I collage and paint different elements, images and ideas from my life to symbolize the external and the internal. Sometimes my objective is to represent a specific plant important during a passage in my life, other times it is to convey a feeling or memory of a place or landscape. My work combines storytelling, journaling and portraiture.

FolioLink has allowed me to design a website that is both dynamic and easy to maintain. My first website was done using one of the popular web design programs. It was done several years ago and served its purpose for the time. Updating it was quite difficult for me and after a while I stopped adding new content. I looked into having a website professionally done but the costs were too high. I discovered FolioLink while looking at another photographer’s website. I took advantage of the free trial and by the end of the trial period decided it was just what I was looking for. The cost for setup and hosting were reasonable and with all the templates available it was very easy for me to design a website I liked. I was able to create one that was both dynamic, through the use of Flash templates, and one, which was easy to update. The nice thing about FolioLink is the ability to update my site anytime I want regardless of where I am. I travel quite a lot so being able to easily update my site on the road was important to me. The other feature I like is the statistics that are available. They provide both the information about how well my site is doing and where my hits are coming from. Of all the options I looked at for creating and maintaining a website, FolioLink, by far, had the most to offer. I’m pleased I have chosen FolioLink for my website needs.
John Chakeres has been a photographer for more then 40 years. He has two books of photographs published, ‘Traces: An Investigation in Reason’, 1977 and ‘D’art Objects: A Collaboration’, 1979, with Mary Manusos. He has had many exhibitions of his photographs and they can also be found in a number of permanent collections including, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Museum of Modern Art, the Monterey Museum of Art, the Columbus Museum of Art and the Tweed Museum of Art. He has been a contributing editor to PhotoMethods magazine and taught photography and printmaking at Ohio University. He currently teaches photography and digital imaging at Columbus State Community College and resides in Columbus Ohio.

I needed to update my world window and a friend suggested Foliolink. As a beginner on the computer I was worried about all the applications and complications that might occur while building a website. I must say that it has been much easier than I imagined. I have been very happy with both the process, and even more so with the results. A thanks to my friend and certainly to Foliolink for the quality, esthetic values and the warm professional assistance, that they seem to be so well known for.
I am an American sculptor living in France, my medium is clay and glazes. My work reflects upon the fundamental issues affecting modern society and its choices today. Despite a humorous, candy like depiction the themes are quite serious. They have a narrative and symbolic quality, often treating universal issues, political events or natural tragedies. There are 3 axes to my work: portraits, stacking and piling and decorative ceramic pieces. I exhibit often in Paris.

A few years ago, I realized that if I wanted to keep up with my fine-art colleagues, I needed a website. My first inquiries were daunting...it seemed a complicated and expensive process. But that's when I found out about FolioLink. They made the process simple, even for me, and we were able to develop a site together that I'm proud of and has resulted in recognition and sales that wouldn't have been otherwise possible. I'm pleased and happy to be a FolioLink subscriber.

Before last year, even though my work had been exhibited in numerous juried, and group exhibitions, I had not sought out gallery representation. However, when I received a sabbatical from teaching, I decided to create a web site of my work with the intention of submitting it to galleries. After researching a number of options, I selected FolioLink because of the many features, template choices, reasonable price, and expert service they offered. Once I completed building the site, I sent it to a number of galleries. The next day I received my first response. Now, my work is represented in San Diego, Santa Monica, Dallas, and New York galleries.
I am a painter living and working in Escondido, California. During the last two decades, my work has centered on the myths and concepts that have defined our relationship to nature. My love for botany evolved out of my concern over the uncertain realities of genetic engineering, the accelerated speed of human dominion over nature, and my reverence for the miraculous design of plants. Currently, I am exploring the practice of indigenous herbalism in relation to our mechanistic worldview in a series of acrylic and watercolor paintings.

It seems essential these days for every photographer to have a website. It has been a great convenience for me to able to refer interested people to the site. A big plus for me was the fact that FolioLink makes it possible to assemble a professional looking site in a short time. FolioLink's ingenious template system enabled me to focus on the work rather than the mechanics of website building. I also have found the folks behind the screen, as it were, to be very helpful.
have confronted photography for many years, primarily as an educator, a fine-art practitioner and an occasional critic. It is a medium which continues to illuminate and define our world in many puzzling and mysterious ways and I have the same awe of the medium now as I had when I first became aware of the possibilities of photography almost fifty years ago.

I designed and built my personal web site about 5 years ago but I ended up not updating it because of lack of time. A friend of mine mentioned FolioLink and after signing-up for the free trial I was convinced.
The templates are simple and sophisticated. No FTP, no HTML, an easy to use interface that makes having a website the perfect promotional tool that can be updated in not time. Great product and great service.

Her colorful paintings and textural collages have been exhibited in Europe, Latin America and United States. “Just like a tree and her branches, Macaro is seeded in her solid Latin American root and she reaches out humane and geographical realities, diverse and afar. She lays her eyes upon daily life with the same amazement as looking into infinity. She translates socially charged themes into an exultation of colors and light. She analyzes the world. Lucidly. She embraces it. Affectionately. She caresses it. Colorfully. She lives in it. Consciously.” Raffaella De Lia

Creating my site through Foliolink was easy. The difficulty in deciding what work to display and how to organize it was not complicated by technical frustrations. The choices in color and layout are tasteful unlike many other sites, so that the finished product can really be what you want it to be.
I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y on the same street that both of my parents were raised. My work as a result is deeply rooted in the place that I live and its relation to my family and identity. My work is also a result of my attraction to what gets unintentionally communicated in the mass produced, advertised elements of our culture. A seemingly innocuous symbol or object can always translate something greater when framed within the context of a photograph, and finding this as it is revealed in a photograph inspires me.

I looked at so many options for building a website but for an artist Foliolink had so many advantages over the rest. The flash templates are very sleek and elegant and were so easy to set up - we even have music! Better still, the staff bent over backwards to help us by adding details to the graphics and answering all of our questions straight away. Everybody who visits the site comments on how good it looks and it has definitely contributed to our success.
I was born in the North of England but spend my time either in capital cities or in the desert. I am a trained artist and have a very distinctive, almost architectural, way of seeing the world. Most of the shots I take come from the ‘in-between places’ that can be found behind gas stations, in back alleys or from high rise hotel windows. This is just my way of looking at the world.

Working with Foliolink team was a wonderful experience. They really understood what my photo-based work is about. They worked with me to create a multimedia experience similar to my photo-based installations, while showcasing the photographs and maintaining the narrative context of my work.
Muriel explores the intricacies and emotional reverberations of identity through art, and uses photography and personal histories as the vehicles for exchange. Through an intergenerational, transnational, and transcultural lens, she crafts a language that expresses a shared humanity, while erasing the borders that maintain our "Otherness."

Our friend and photographer/architect Prakash Patel (www.prakashpatel.com) suggested that I consider setting up my website on FolioLink, and showed me how well-designed the system is and the variety of template choices and methods for adding images and text. Prior to seeing this, I had thought the task of designing my website would be daunting and expensive and would require the ongoing services of a website designer. FolioLink makes it simple and affordable for me to design and maintain my own website. It is very easy to learn and use, and it becomes part of the creative process by evolving with the work.
FolioLink support is responsive, personable, and knowledgeable. I appreciate their experience and expertise, especially the suggestions from the FolioLink staff that helped me improve my site, both technically and visually.
A compliment I recently received via email from someone who saw my FolioLink website:
“Your web site is terrific, it is so dynamic. I went through your pictures over and over.”

A couple of months ago I started looking into changing my website. After researching tons of web templates and web design companies. I came across Foliolink. I was very impressed and excited with the variety of templates they offered. I quickly called and was equally happy to see how helpful they were to my every question regarding the template I preferred. The staff has been a great help and they have worked with me every step of the way.. THANK YOU !!
A universe of Visual imagery is my world. Born to Italian parents and immigrating to the United States, mastering English was a challenge. I used art as a form of communication, as a consequence fine art became a major part of my life. Eighteen years ago I ventured into a new realm of art known as Body painting. I used Body paint as an extension to my fine art. My body painting evolved. This has enabled me to cross boundaries, and introduced my interpretation of the living canvas ' Body painting’ to the world.

“My experience with FolioLink has been very positive and productive. Their team is helpful knowledgeable and responds quickly when I have questions or need to resolve a problem. In this world of many choices and complexity, I think one of the best things about having a FolioLink website is it’s ease of use, simple interface and quick-loading pages. Many clients and collectors of mine have commented on how easy it is to navigate and the crisp, clean design that highlights my work. I’d like to think that it is my paintings alone, that have been the reason for clients buying work through the site. But, in truth, the top-notch presentation of my FolioLink website, as part of an overall marketing plan, helps a great deal.” -Philip Frey
“Philip Frey’s sophisticated paintings and accomplishments reflect a burgeoning career. In his portrayal of Maine coastal life, Frey’s colors often capture a boldness that reminds us of the capacity of light to call one into an atmosphere of cool awakening. A signature Frey landscape stands out for its use of dynamic brushstrokes and luminosity. In all of them, there is poised use of shape, a delight in the sheer patterning and lighting of objects, and an overall visual harmony and joy. He exhibits in several distinguished galleries as far south as Virginia and his work is collected here and abroad. Mr. Frey is an artist whose career is in rapid ascendancy and is one that bears close watching over the decade to come.” - As excerpted from The Firehouse Gallery biography.

I was asked to submit work to a gallery that was considering me for representation. I didn't want to submit slides. I had heard of FolioLink from a friend who had built her website with them and I checked it out. I was amazed at how simply and quickly I was able to choose a template, join as a member and build a working website, and a very presentable one, in just a few hours. By the next day I was ready to send the link to my new site to the gallery and I was able to secure representation, because my FolioLink website made viewing my resume, images, and statement so streamlined and professional. I really am pleased with the results. It is very easy to update the site and I have already added image pages, changed things, and added text pages without any difficulty. It looks great.
My drawings and paintings straddle the border between reality and dream, past life and present.
I primarily do very detailed, obsessive colored pencil drawings on rice paper, which are cut out, sewn into, and then embedded into vibrantly colored encaustic paintings (pigmented wax and resin painted with the use of a heated palette). I also do intricate silverpoint drawings on gessoed paper.
I have shown in many group and solo shows around the United States and have my work in the collections of several museums, the Montclair Art Museum, the Brodsky Center for Innovative Print and Paper, and the Newark Museum's Library Print Collection among them. I am currently represented by Tag Gallery in Nashville, TN, Henry Boxer Gallery in London, UK, Judy Saslow Gallery, Chicago, IL, and Van Brunt Gallery in Beacon, NY.

I have been painting and exhibiting for 30 years. Foliolink gave me the means to establish exhibitions in New York and make connections to museums. While I lived New York City in the nineties I could get only one studio visit from a major gallery. After two years of courting one gallery, I handed my card to the owner last fall with the newly established website. The owner immediately went online to look at new work. After he made selections, I delivered the work to the gallery within a week. I have a show up now at Robert Steele Gallery in NYC through August 26, another planned for this year, and a major solo show in two years. I was greatly helped by your service.
Known for his monochromatic paintings of grids saturated in color, and lyrical paintings of vertical lines, the new intricately composed paintings of Pulse create a universe of both motion and emotion. Unpredictable twists and turns of bold lyrical ribbons pulsate with color and energy. The natural world and music have always impacted Moore’s inner world. The multi-layers of the paintings are as complex and intricate as a jazz improvisation. He earned his MFA degree in painting at Bard College, NY, and exhibits at Robert Steele Gallery in NYC, and Kidder Smith Gallery in Boston, MA

FolioLink is like a giant art store with all sorts of fun toys to play with at will. The Sofia II template is the perfect backdrop to showcase my work and vision, and the customer service has been sublime to work with. Not only do they keep me personally abreast of upcoming features, but I generally receive response to technical questions with speed and always with aplomb. Thanks for creating an artist's dream: an interactive and brightly colored palette with which I can make a masterpiece!
Raised under the endless skies of Oklahoma, Caroline Cohenour now aims her lens at the intricate details of Los Angeles. Most of her photographs document both the abstract and the minimal nature of urban life: defiant dandelions, lonely lamps, and maverick messages of street artists found in alleyways. She is inspired by the the color and texture of forgotten street corners which themselves act as a testament to her belief that beauty can be found all around us.

In brief, Foliolink has been a godsend. After years working as a computer game artist, learning many different software tools, it has been a joy to relinquish my technical expertise to the experts. Because I use Foliolink for my website, I no longer have to stay abreast of the latest changes in website or internet technology. In my experience, Foliolink has been a responsive and well informed institution. I can always rely on their staff to assist me quickly and efficiently, thereby allowing me to focus on what I love…..creating art.
Above all things I am a painter. I have been college educated and raised by artist parents. I have worked as a commercial and fine artist for others. Today I am my own artist who covets artwork that inspires. If a painting tells me a story or hints at a story which leaves the conclusion up to me, I am enrapt. I am devoted to artwork painted with attention to detail and savor traditional art making processes. As a collector this is what I look for in other artists’ work. As a painter this is the standard I create by.

How easy is this to use? I had my photographic portfolio up and running within a couple or hours , and I can add and delete images with ease even when out on assignment. I can change the entire look and feel of the site with the click of a mouse . I'm continually asked by clients and fellow photographers who built my website. Just last week I had a call from a potential new client. I was able to quickly load up a potfolio suiting his style requirement in under 15 minutes before calling him and directing him to my site. Thanks Foliolink for a easy to use but feature packed, professional website.

While we’ve had our own website for years, we really wanted to create a portfolio section just for gallery owners and art buyers. Our web designer suggested we just do another site, using Foliolink, and we’ve been 100% thrilled with the result. Our designer customized one of the foliolink templates, fitting it to the brand we’ve already established. Four of us have worked on the site, and all can attest to the ease of the editing process, and the professional, knowledgeable help we’ve received from the foliolink staff. It’s been a great collaboration – one I highly recommend to other photographers and artists. – Sue Dawson, Art Director

Foliolink has been a wonderful and nurturing companion on my journey in art thus far. Every artist should have one - a friend that supports and urges you through difficult terrain to your distant goals.
My art practice has always been based on the wonder of the abstract codification of pure thought we call mathematics. I am motivated by the aesthetics of elegant mathematics now in my art as I was as a
mathematician in my past. On the other hand I nurture a skeptical viewpoint on the role mathematics play as the inevitable language of choice of science and itsprevalence in our lives. My art practice lies within this dialectic.

I was introduced to FolioLink by my friend and fellow photographer, Keith Jochim. From the outset, the crew were, to a person, not only helpful, but enthusiastic about getting my site up to speed and achieving a look that would satisfy me. Their responses have always been very prompt, detailed and personal, regardless of the topic in question. At no time have I felt that I am communicating with an organisation. I have always felt like I am dealing with dedicated, knowledgeable and interested individuals. And they are good fun to work with! I am getting excellent information on visitors to my site as well as excellent reactions to my work. I cannot recommend FolioLink more highly and I am very pleased to be a member of the FolioLink network.
For me, image-making involves the same challenge as that which is demanded by poetry: look, look harder, distil, seek out the play of lightness within darkness, the ambiguity that hovers behind description, and set down something that just might be able to evoke an emotional or psychological connection.
It is my goal to ask questions in a voice that does not shout, and I hope that the relationship between my images and the viewer might be like a conversation that two people not well known to each other might engage in late at night – a kind of sotto voce exchange in which the participants are inclined to lean toward one another, quieten down, listen carefully.

Foliolink artisans designed a template for me that allowed me to feature both my book, Make Your Mark, and my art work in a clear way. Many visitors to the website have told me that it is the nicest, most easily navigable site they have seen that features an artist's work. Upkeep of the site (adding portfolio pieces and text as regards workshops, shows and appearances) is easy for me to do myself, but when I have called with questions, no one on the staff has ever been anything but unruffled and gracious at all times. I feel very well represented. Thanks Foliolink!

It was so great! I was having dinner watching the beautiful sunset of Lake Tahoe when a gentleman overheard me talking about being a painter. I mentioned that he could see my work on http://meredithniles.com. He stopped by my studio and purchased one of my favorite paintings. I can truly say it was because of my Foliolink website that this painting sold and I only had the site for a few
months. I am very pleased with the service!!
“My intention in the paintings is to create a sense of calm, ironically using the boldest colors and shapes. I want the viewer to remove themselves from their hectic lives and momentarily contemplate the quiet tradition of still life in the context of architecturally bold environments. I first combined silver and pinecones eliciting thoughts of one’s city life with one’s weekends at play in the woods. I then became intrigued with the beauty of fruit and their reflections as the light comes through the window of my home. I got a call last November from an ad agency looking for someone to shoot a campaign for Target. It was a portrait project using real people, Target employees. Someone at Smithsonian Magazine recommended me. I thought I was in, until they asked me for the address of my website and I had to tell them, "I don't have a website." The silence was deafening. " Is this Tom Wolff, the photographer"? came the voice over the phone. I e mailed her a couple of images and said I'd call her tomorrow. This was going to be like trying to get a prom date while on deathrow. At 9AM next morning I went to the Foliolink website and by 4PM I was up and running with 25 pictures and a web address. The tech support was amazing. They stayed with me until I had it right. I didn't get that job but I had my website and it has been a powerful marketing tool for me.
I really love doing editorial portraits. I have come to terms pretty much with the fact that my portraits are basically pictures of people having their picture taken. It seems the most honest approach, the frank acknowledgment of the camera. Did I mention that............ I could have asked rhetorically.... is it,then, necessary to place oneself in a category? Or offered the excuse, that words are no help getting to the truth. Or that a slight color variation, a tone, becomes a real event, a thing that carries emotional weight and meaning. Or that Cezanne said that being an artist is like being in a lonely priesthood. I am like a cave painter at Altamira. I know what I like; I put it on the wall. I wish it were more complicated than that. In case of terrorist attack please visit my website-www.tomwolffphoto.com.

It takes a lot of time and effort to design a website and that meant time away from photographing. The folks at FolioLink helped me get set up and they have enabled me to show my work to a much larger population. So much that Black and White Photography Magazine gave me web site of the month in their August 2006 issue.
I first became interested in photography in 1977, when my family moved to the Washington DC area from Iran. I was introduced to the history of photography, street and documentary photography while studying at a local university. I finally understood why I wanted to take photographs. I want to document the buildings, the people, windows and signs. Things that we tend to walk by without a second though. My work is about photographing the present and holding on to it, only to have it emerge at later date as a historic representation. A kind of witness to the unseen and ignored.
