Arches / Canyonlands Photo Workshop Fall 2010

Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Utah

Red Rock, Arches, and Canyons

November 3-7, 2010

Join me for a workshop photographing some of the most beautiful arches, canyons, and red rock that southeast Utah has to offer.  We will be hosting the workshop in Moab, which conveniently sits amongst Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. I will be assisted in this workshop by Gary Hart

I have purposely planned this workshop during the first week of November in order to maximize our shooting times / locations as the official tourist season will have ended. We will virtually have these two National Park gems to ourselves, and the weather will still be comfortable!

2010 Tentative Schedule:

Wednesday, November 3 - Workshop officially begins at 1pm with a 2-hour group orientation meeting followed by a sunset shoot at the famous Delicate Arch.

Thursday, November 4 - Sunday, November 7 -  We will explore many of the famous icons of both Arches and Canyonlands and take advantage of the spectacular sunrise and sunset light. We will also include at least one evening of "star photography" at Arches utilizing one of the famous arches as our subject! We will also be visiting famed Dead Horse Point State Park as part of this workshop.

Each day will include training sessions on: Photoshop workflow, RAW processing with Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom 2, an introduction to HDR processing with Photomatix Pro Software, and a look at the latest plug-ins from Nik Software including Viveza, DFine, and Sharperner Pro. We will also have demonstations on plotting moon photography, along with (2) image review sessions. New sessions dealing with composition, limiting factors in the field, and finding the right light have also been added!

The workshop will conclude at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 7, following a sunrise/early morning shoots.

All workshop participants will receive a copy of my new book: Refined Vision: 50 Lessons Designed to Improve Your Digital Landscape Photography
