Over the years, Akira has established himself as a distinguished advertising photographer whose long history of artistic excellence in the field has earned a significant reputation that spans continents and generations.
Akira has started his career in Japan and won prestigious awards in photography, including short-listed at the London International Awards and the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, the world’s most distinguished advertising photography awards. From 2003 to 2007, his work was published in Luerzer’s International Archive (internationally renowned advertising photo magazine) eight times, the largest number among Japanese photographers. His work has been adopted in posters and magazine advertisements for numerous worldly known companies from various industries, including Adidas, American Express, BMW, Braun, Canon, Citi Bank, Clinique, Coca-Cola, Corona, DFS (Duty Free Shoppers) Okinawa, Epson, Fujitsu, Frisk, IBM, Kao, LG, Listerine, Maybelline, McDonald’s, Mikimoto, MTV, NEC, Sony, Tokyo Disneyland, Volkswagen, Boucheron, and Numero Tokyo. Since August 2010 Akira is based in Tokyo.
